Best time to visit Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka works year-round because two monsoons hit different sides of the island. The south-west monsoon (May–Sep) brings rain to the west and south coasts and the hill country, while the north-east monsoon (roughly Nov–Jan) wets the east coast and the Cultural Triangle. Match your month to a region below, and note the whale seasons, Yala's autumn closure and Kandy's Esala Perahera.
