Day 4: Explore Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya

• Gregory Lake walk & boating · 2 h
• Sita Amman Temple (Sita Eliya) · 1 h. 6 km out on the Badulla road; believed to be where Sita was held. Shoes off, donations welcome.
• Hakgala Botanical Garden (Ashok Vatika) · 2 h. A few minutes past the Sita Amman Temple; roses peak Apr–May.
• Divurumpola temple · 1 h. Near Welimada, ~45 min away; by tradition the site of Sita's agni pariksha.
• Ramboda Falls stop · 1 h. On the Kandy road; pair with a tea stop at the estates around Ramboda.

Local tip: 6 km out on the Badulla road; believed to be where Sita was held. Shoes off, donations welcome.

• Ravana Falls · 1 h. 6 km below Ella on the Wellawaya road and linked to the Ramayana; fullest after rain, rocks are slippery.
• Ravana Cave · 1.5 h. Steep steps up from the road; associated in local tradition with Ravana hiding Sita.
